Federal Grants

Grants are based on financial need and do not need to be repaid.* You may qualify for federal grants. Brookline College participates in the following grant programs:

Student Loans

Student loans are the most common form of financial aid. Loans may be issued by the US Department of Education or by private institutions. Loans may be taken by students and/or their parents and must be repaid with interest. Terms for federally issued loans are public and determined by the federal government. Private lenders are not insured by the federal government, may have variable requirements for application approval, and set their own terms.

Scholarships

Scholarships represent money that doesn’t need to be repaid. They may be awarded based on a variety of criteria, such as academic achievement, extracurricular talent, financial need, and alumni status. Institutions, organizations, or even private individuals may provide scholarships for students.

Federal Work-Study

Federal Work-Study provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student’s course of study.

Federal Work-Study Quick Facts:

  • It provides part-time employment while you are enrolled in school.
  • It’s available to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students with financial need.
  • It’s available to full-time or part-time students.
  • It’s administered by schools participating in the Federal Work-Study Program.

There are funding options available specifically for Veterans.
